Burnout Struggles
Burnout is rampant lately, especially in tech. You’ve likely experienced burnout before, and may even be experiencing it lately — whether you know it or not.
How can you tell if you’re burnt out? Once you realize you’re burning out, what can you do? How can you help others who may be burnt out?
Once you have a more nuanced mental model and richer vocabulary around burnout, you’ll be able to address burnout in yourself and others much more proactively.
In This Workshop
Here’s some of what we’ll cover:
- You will learn vocabulary for discussing burnout with more nuance.
- You will screen yourself for burnout using Maslach’s three components of burnout.
- We will brainstorm and share out ways we each already address burnout.
- You will create a plan for how to prevent or address burnout in yourself going forward.
The structure. This workshop is about half presentation and half interactive activities. Activities include: quiet brainstorming, sharing things to the sidebar chat, and discussion in breakout rooms (pairs), and share-outs back to the full group.
About Casey
Hi, I’m Casey! I love bringing together my two backgrounds (“tech” and “people”) in workshops like this one, helping people who work with software development teams to apply psychology concepts to their work.
As a past teacher, I focus on helping you learn skills (not just interesting ideas). My workshops are as interactive as I can make them, because interactivity is SO important for learning.
I’ve been burnt out SEVERAL times from several jobs. There is a lot I wish I knew much earlier in my career.
I’m looking forward to seeing you at the event — I think you’ll learn a lot! :D
